Love as the Ultimate Religion

Love is the essence of God's creation. Indeed, God is love. All religions preach love because it is the ultimate goal of spiritualism, the ultimate rallying point of all religions. Love is the only religion enjoined of all humanity. In an attempt to attain universal love, humans designed religion as a vehicle. That explains the multiplicity of religions of various kinds and doctrines all over the world. Attain unconditional universal love and make Heaven! That is as far as spiritual love goes. This type of love is required from the cradle to the grave. In essence, it is a strong feeling of goodwill or goodness towards other humans and creatures. It is this type of love that should be referred to as blind, since it should apply to all irrespective of race, colour, gender, religion, etal. As for amorous love, it is a small sub-set of the spiritual universal love. It is limited in applicability and scope. Amorous love is equally strong towards the object, usually the spouse or partner. As a small child, one has a greater capacity for the spiritual universal love, as one smiles at and feel good with all, suspecting or hating none. As we grow older, we start being selective in the objects of our love - parents, siblings, relations, friends and so on. Later on still, our love objects narrow further until our attention and love predominate on spouse and nuclear family, while love for others dwindles. Further in our growing-up days, we mistake God's injunction -universal love- for religiosity. We start sleeping in churches and mosques in an attempt to "please" God, but forgetting to carry out His injunction by pleasing His creatures with love. A small child on the way to our church or mosque needs urgent help, but we feel that we are too late for church or mosque, and so cannot give love to the small creature. A time has come for us to realise that all the prophets of God preached love - universal love. Religions are just the various methods adopted by the followers to advance the cause of love. Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, they lost focus and treated religion itself as the end in itself rather than the means to the end. What do we get? The opposite of universal love (universal hate) has now turned the world asunder.
